United States Attorney's Office News Release Emblem



August 1, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham and Michael Green, District Attorney for Delaware County, today announced the filing of a six-count indictment* charging DYSHA WRIGHT, with possession with intent to distribute cocaine base (“crack”), possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Section 841(a)(1), Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(c) and 922(g). The indictment alleges that on January 13, 2007, January 31, 2007, and March 23, 2007 WRIGHT possessed with intent to distribute cocaine base (“crack”), and also possessed a Davis Industries handgun, Model P-380, serial number AP144660, and a Taurus, model PT-140, .40 caliber handgun, serial number SZA83606, loaded one (1) live round in the chamber and nine (5) live rounds in the magazine.

This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, all District Attorney’s Offices in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. Defendant WRIGHT faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a total mandatory minimum sentence of 360 months imprisonment, 5 years to lifetime of supervised release, a $4,000,000 fine and a $600 special assessment.
