July 10, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Lancaster County District Attorney Donald R. Totaro today announced the filing of an indictment* which charges STEVEN USUAMA ROSE with one count of drug distribution, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime and felon in possession of a firearm. The indictment alleges that on August 9, 2005, ROSE possessed a firearm after he had been convicted of a felony offense.
This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, which is a joint initiative of local, state, and federal prosecutors including the United States Attorney's Office, Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and other federal, state, and local agencies. One of the goals of the Project Safe Neighborhoods program is to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. If convicted, ROSE faces a total possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment, a minimum of three years to lifetime of supervised release, a fine of $4,500,000, and a $400 special assessment.
