June 8, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a five-count indictment* charging MICHAEL BROWN with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and methylenedioxymethamphetamine (“MDMA”), and possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 922(g)(1) and 924(c), and Title 21, United States Code, Section 841(a)(1) & (b)(1)(C). The indictment alleges that on March 12, 2006, BROWN possessed a Glock .40 caliber handgun, Model #27, serial #EDZ-665, loaded with eight live rounds, and further, that on October 23, 2006, BROWN possessed approximately 1650 grams of marijuana, 119 tablets containing Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (“MDMA”), more commonly known as “ecstasy,” and the following eight guns:

1. Intrac Arms AK-47 assault rifle, serial number 3-0223497;
2. Bush Master Model XM15-E2S assault rifle, serial number L189491;
3. Armi Tanfoglio Model GT 26 PAT .25 cal. semi-automatic handgun, serial number S06371;
4. Berretta EL 950 BS .22 cal. semi-automatic handgun, serial number BR01821T, and eight live rounds;
5. Colt M1991A1 .45 cal. semi-automatic handgun, serial number CP01145, and 8 live rounds;
6. Bush Master Model XM15-E2S assault rifle, serial number L048181;
7. Ruger P345 .45 cal. semi-automatic handgun, serial number 664-03599, and 9 live rounds; and,
8. Berretta M9-92FS 9mm semi-automatic handgun, serial number 0100M9, and 10 live rounds.

This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, all District Attorney’s Offices in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. Defendant BROWN faces a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment, a mandatory minimum 3 years supervised release up to lifetime supervised release, a $ 2,750,000 fine and a $500 special assessment.
