STATEMENT REGARDING JUDGE KOSIK’S ORDER REJECTING THE PLEA AGREEMENTS RELATING TO MARK CIAVARELLA AND MICHAEL CONAHAN

The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has received Judge Kosik’s order rejecting the plea agreements relating to Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan. We are reviewing the Court’s order to determine the appropriate course of action in this case in light of the Court’s ruling, and we will have no further comment on the Court’s order at this time. We remain committed, however, to achieving the goal which we have pursued from the outset of this case, justice for the people of Luzerne County.
