BIOGRAPHY
While a student at the Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Mr. Pfannenschmidt served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Sylvia Rambo and the Honorable Harold Sheely. After graduation he served as an Assistant Public Defender and later as as Assistant District Attorney in Centre County, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Pfannenschmidt went on to become a Senior Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, where he prosecuted criminal cases involving organized crime and other state violations in many of the counties of the Commonwealth. He served as an Assistant US Attorney from October 1988 to August 2009, handling the litigation of criminal and civil cases in the US District Court, US Bankruptcy Court and US Court of Appeals. Between January 1998 and December 2002, Mr. Pfannenschmidt served as the Managing Attorney of the United States Attorney’s Office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. From December 2002 until August 2009, Mr. Pfannenschmidt served as the Chief, Civil Division, for the United States Attorney’s Office. On August 9, 2009 he was appointed by the Attorney General of the United States to serve as the Interim United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He has lectured on a number of legal topics at Department of Justice training seminars and has served as an evaluator of the management of numerous other United States Attorneys Offices around the country.
Mr. Pfannenschmidt received his J.D. from the Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law and his B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Pittsburgh.
