
PREVIOUSLY DEPORTED MAN RESIDING IN SCRANTON CHARGED WITH REENTRY OF AN ILLEGAL ALIEN
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a grand jury in Scranton indicted Esteban Hurtero Sosa, age 34, from Puebla, Mexico and residing in Scranton, Pennsylvania yesterday.
According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Hurtero Sosa is charged with reentry of an illegal alien after deportation. The indictment alleges that Hurtero Sosa was previously deported from the United States and returned without being granted permission to do so.
If convicted, Hurtero Sosa could be imprisoned for a total statutory maximum of up to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Todd K. Hinkley for prosecution.
