
Schuylkill County Man Sentenced to 30 Months in Federal
Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking
The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Schuylkill County resident was sentenced today by Senior U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 30 months in federal prison for his role in methamphetamine trafficking in 2009.
According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Bruce Kunkel, age 46, of Tamaqua, previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.
Kunkel was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2009, as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Tamaqua Police.
Judge Munley also ordered that Kunkel serve four years of supervised release following his prison sentence and pay a $500 fine.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
