
Federal Inmate Charged with Assaulting Two Correctional Officers
The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the return of an indictment by a Grand Jury in Harrisburg yesterday against an inmate at the Lewisburg Federal Penitentiary.
According to United States Attorney Peter J. Smith, Ricky Smith, age 30, is charged with assaulting two correctional officers at the Lewisburg Penitentiary on January 19, 2012.
If convicted of the offense, Smith, could be imprisoned for up to 20 years and fined $250,000.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney William Simmers.
