CARLISLE BARRACKS PHARMACIST APPEARS IN FEDERAL COURT

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that Thuy P. Dang, age 53, of Carlisle, Pennsylvania, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge J. Andrew Smyser on charges he stole prescription drugs from the United States Department of Defense at the Carlisle Barracks.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson, Dang was a pharmacist at the Dunham United States Army Health Clinic located at the Carlisle Barracks. On March 5, 2008, Dang was indicted for allegedly stealing in excess of $1,000 worth of prescription drugs between December 2005 and March 2007.

Trial is scheduled to begin June 2, 2008 before United States District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner.

If convicted, Dang faces a 10-year maximum term of imprisonment and a maximum fine of $250,000.

This case is being investigated by the Office of Inspector General, Department of Defense and the United States Army, Criminal Investigative Division. Prosecution is being handled by Assistant United States Attorney Eric Pfisterer.
