LUZERNE COUNTY DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO 98 MONTHS IN PRISON

Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Wilkes-Barre resident, who is an illegal alien from St. Vincent Island in the West Indies, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 98 months in prison for distributing cocaine and crack cocaine in Luzerne County in 2006.

Carlson stated that Sean Herbert, also known as “Bounty,” age 30, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to distribution and possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine. Herbert pleaded guilty on February 1, 2008.

Herbert was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 22, 2006, as a result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Pennsylvania State Police, and Wilkes-Barre Police.

Judge Munley also ordered Herbert to be placed on five years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Herbert must also pay a $100 special assessment, and forfeit to the government $4,283 seized by agents during the investigation. Herbert is subject to being deported after serving his prison sentence.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
