HARRISBURG MAN SENTENCED TO 108 MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that Adam Hudson, age 22, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced today by United States District Court Judge William C. Caldwell to 108 months’ imprisonment for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence. According to Acting U.S. Attorney Carlson, in the early morning hours of September 21, 2007, two Harrisburg Police officers on patrol in the area of 17th and Regina Streets, Harrisburg, heard extremely loud music coming from an automobile operated by Hudson. The officers attempted to effect a traffic stop; Hudson, however, parked his vehicle, got out, and began to walk away. The officers then called out to Hudson that they wanted to speak to him regarding his music. While one of the officers took Hudson’s identification in order to run a warrant check, the other told Hudson that they were going to pat him down for their own safety. Hudson refused to comply and ran. One officer pursued and caught up with Hudson, who responded by putting a gun to the officer’s face. The officer and Hudson then struggled over the firearm. Ultimately, the second officer came upon the struggle and disarmed Hudson. Following Hudson’s arrest, he was searched and found in possession of over two grams of crack cocaine, black gloves, duct tape, and a knife. At the time of this offense, Hudson was serving a term of supervised release for a pervious federal conviction. This case was investigated by the Harrisburg Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and prosecuted by Acting United States Attorney Martin C. Carlson. **** |
