ALLENTOWN WOMAN SENTENCED TO 70 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR DRUG CRIMES

Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that an Allentown woman who distributed cocaine and crack cocaine in Carbon County during 2005 through 2007, was sentenced today by U.S. District Court Judge James M. Munley to serve 70 months in federal prison.
Carlson stated that Susan Hunsicker, age 28, previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine. Hunsicker admitted to participating in two Carbon County-based drug rings. One of the drug rings was headed by Christopher Berry and the second drug ring was allegedly headed by Imani Simelani.

Hunsicker was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2005 and again in April 2007, as a result of investigations by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Pennsylvania State Police, and local police in Carbon County. Hunsicker was one of 17 defendants charged in 2005, and one of 11 defendants charged in a separate case in 2007.

Judge Munley also ordered Hunsicker to serve three years of supervised release after serving her prison sentence, and to pay a special assessment of $200.

Carlson noted that the defendant was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
