MONROE COUNTY MAN GETS 5 YEARS FOR POSSESSING GUN IN DRUG OFFENSE

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced that a Monroe County man was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Court Judge William J. Nealon to serve 60 months in federal prison for possessing a firearm in connection with a drug trafficking offense in June 2006.

Carlson stated that William Kile, age 39, pleaded guilty to the offense on November 19, 2007.

Kile was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 25, 2007, as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and local police in Monroe County.

Judge Nealon also ordered Kile to be placed on three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. Kile must also pay a $100 special assessment.

Carlson noted that the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa.
