YEAGERTOWN MAN INDICTED FOR ALLEGEDLY ROBBING THREE BANKS

Martin C. Carlson, Acting United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, announced today that a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has returned an indictment against Marqus Anthony Stahl, age 26, of Yeagertown, Pennsylvania, charging him with three counts of bank robbery.

The indictment alleges that between January 2008 through April 2008, Stahl robbed three banks of more than $5,000:

-Mifflin County Savings Bank, Belleville, Pennsylvania;
-Juniata Valley Bank, Mifflintown, Pennsylvania; and
-Fulton Bank, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania

The indictment further alleges that Stahl committed each robbery by providing a note threatening harm unless his demands for money were met.

If convicted, Stahl faces up to 60 years’ imprisonment and fines of $750,000.

This case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation; Pennsylvania State Police; Fairview Township Police Department; and the Mifflin County Regional Police Department.

Assistant United States Attorney Daryl F. Bloom is prosecuting the case.

****
An Indictment or Information is not evidence of guilt but simply a description of the charge made by the Grand Jury and/or United States Attorney against a defendant. A charged Defendant is presumed innocent until a jury returns a unanimous finding that the United States has proven the defendant’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt or until the defendant has pled guilty to the charges.
