TIOGA COUNTY MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS IMPRISONMENT FOR RUNNING DRUG CONSPIRACY Martin C. Carlson, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced today that Paul Surine, age 48, of Tioga County, Pennsylvania, was sentenced yesterday before United States District Court Judge James McClure. Surine was sentenced to a 30 year prison sentence for his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine in Tioga County. According to U.S. Attorney Carlson, eight other individuals were involved in the conspiracy that lasted from May 2005 to January 2007. Judge McClure concluded that Surine was the leader of the conspiracy, that firearms were possessed by the conspirators, and that the quantity of crack distributed was between 1,500 and 4,500 grams. Surine was indicted on September 27, 2007. This case was investigated by Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William Simmers. U.S. Attorney Carlson praised the tireless efforts of both Assistant United States Attorney Simmers and the agents for dismantling this drug ring and making Tioga County a safer place. **** |
