Honduran Sentenced To Time-Served For Immigration Violation

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - A citizen of Honduras pleaded guilty and was sentenced in federal court to time-served on his conviction of violating federal immigration laws, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.

United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the sentence on Milton Joel De La O Lemus, 28, of Honduras.

According to information presented to the court, De La O Lemus was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop in East McKeesport, Pa., on July 20, 2011.  While the officer ran a vehicle check on the driver, De La O Lemus fled from the vehicle on foot before being apprehended by the officer.  Milton Joel De La O Lemus has been removed on two prior occasions from the United States.

Assistant United States Attorney James T. Kitchen prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of De La O Lemus.
