
Removed Alien Sentenced To Time-Served For Illegally Re-entering U.S.
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - An individual found by the Indiana Township Police Department has been sentenced in federal court to time-served on his conviction of re-entry into the United States after deportation, United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced today.
Senior United States District Judge Maurice B. Cohill imposed the sentence on Joel Jimenez-Azpeitia, 30, formerly from Mexico.
According to information presented to the court, Joel Jimenez-Azpeitia, an alien, was removed from the United States by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Nov. 12, 2010, Jan. 12, 2011, and Jan. 22, 2011. Joel Jimenez-Azpeitia was found on Sept. 14, 2011, by the Indiana Township Police Department.
Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai prosecuted this case on behalf of the government.
U.S. Attorney Hickton commended the U.S. Immigration and Custom Enforcement and the Indiana Township Police Department for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Joel Jimenez-Azpeitia.
