DEPORTED MEXICAN CITIZEN SENTENCED FOR ILLEGALLY RETURNING TO U.S.
United States Attorney Mary Beth Buchanan announced today, July 30, 2009, that Sebastian Salinas-Salinas, a citizen of Mexico, has pled guilty and has been sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to time served (approximately three months imprisonment) on his conviction of violating federal immigration laws. Salinas-Salinas will be released to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for deportation.
United States District Judge Alan N. Bloch imposed the sentence on Salinas-Salinas, age 27, of Mexico.
According to information presented to the court by Assistant United States Attorney Margaret E. Picking, on May 1, 2009, Sebastian Salinas‑Salinas was found traveling in a car that was stopped in Baldwin Borough. It was then discovered that he was illegally in the United States, after having been removed on or about February 5, 2009.
Ms. Buchanan commended the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), together with the Baldwin Police Department, in Baldwin, Pennsylvania, for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Salinas-Salinas.
