Peter F. Neronha
President Barack Obama appointed Peter F. Neronha as the United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island on September 16, 2009. Mr. Neronha, a Rhode Island native, is a 1985 summa cum laude graduate of Boston College. In 1989, he graduated from Boston College Law School, where he was a member of the Boston College Law Review. He then joined the Boston, Massachusetts law firm Goodwin Procter, LLP. In 1996, he was appointed a Special Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the Rhode Island Department of the Attorney General. He became an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Rhode Island in 2001, again serving in the Criminal Division. In 2002, he became an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Rhode Island. While an Assistant United States Attorney, Mr. Neronha duties included serving as Chief of the District’s Organized Crime Strike Force.
