Civil Division
Our Civil Division comprises the defense of lawsuits against the United States or its employees, Affirmative Civil Enforcement ("ACE") cases seeking recovery of civil penalties and damages under the False Claims Act, as well as recovery of debts owed to the United States through the Financial Litigation Unit ("FLU") and asset forfeiture.
Recent highlights include:
- Successful prosecution of a doctor who sold free drug manufacturers' samples to a pharmacy owner who then mixed the samples with his regular prescription stock, and fraudulently obtained reimbursement from health insurers;
- Prosecution of a doctor who diluted vaccines and falsified immunization reports;
- More than $3,000,000 worth of forfeitures.
