Terrorism Division
In his initial remarks as Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales said, "…we will continue to make terrorism our top priority while remaining consistent with our values and legal obligations. That will be the lodestar that guides us in our efforts at the Department."
At the direction of the Attorney General, every U.S. Attorney's office has established an Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council ("ATAC"). The ATAC is a working partnership among federal, state, and local law enforcement and government officials designed to prepare for, prevent and respond to terrorism incidents. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Vilker is our ATAC Coordinator, and our Intelligence Research Specialist is Brian J. Pires. The ATAC meets on a regular basis to share information, coordinate and discuss investigative and prosecutorial strategies, security issues, post-incident responses and disaster planning. The ATAC also plays a central role in the coordination of training sessions for our local law enforcement officers. To discuss training opportunities, please call Brian Pires at 401-709-5042.
