Oft-convicted drug trafficker is sentenced to
188 months in prison for crack trafficking

A federal judge has sentenced Ronald Hill, 35, of Providence to 188 months in federal prison for trafficking in crack cocaine.  On two occasions last year, Hill sold crack cocaine in Providence.  Hill, who has more than two dozen prior convictions, including five drug convictions, was sentenced as a career offender.
United States Attorney Robert Clark Corrente announced the sentence, which U.S. District Court Judge William E. Smith imposed on September 28 in U.S. District Court, Providence.
In January, Hill pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing cocaine base.  At the plea hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra R. Beckner said the government could prove that, on September 11, 2006, Hill sold a gram of crack, and, on September 18, he sold nearly ten grams.  Providence Police monitored both transactions.
Hill’s prior convictions include domestic assault, drug possession, and drug trafficking.
