Columbia, South Carolina ---- United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated today that a Federal Grand Jury in Columbia, South Carolina, returned Indictment(s) against the following:

Company Charged with Violating the Clean Air Act
Werner Transportation Services Inc, of Gainesville Georgia was charged in a 1-count Indictment with releasing a hazardous pollutant into the air, a violation of Title 42, United States Code, Section 7413(c)(4). The misdemeanor charge carries a fine of up to $500,000.  The case was investigated by the Environmental Protection Agency and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney T. DeWayne Pearson of the Columbia office for prosecution.

The United States Attorney stated that all charges in this Indictment are merely accusations and that all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
