
Federal Grand Jury Indictments

Columbia, South Carolina -- United States Attorney Bill Nettles announced today
that a Federal Grand Jury sitting in Florence, South Carolina, has returned the following
Indictments:
Sex Offender Indicted for Failure to Register.
Larry Devon Green, age 29, of
Loris, South Carolina, was charged in a one-count Indictment with Failure to Register as a
Sex Offender. The maximum penalty Larry Devon Green could receive is 10 years
imprisonment. The case was investigated by agents of the United States Marshals Service
and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Jean M. Popowski of the Florence office
for prosecution.
Bennettsville Inmate Charged With Escape.
Dawud Abdullah Khalid, age 37, was
charged in a one-count Indictment with escaping from the custody of the Federal Correctional
Institution in Bennettsville, South Carolina on July 17, 2012. The maximum penalty Khalid
could receive is 5 years imprisonment. The case was investigated by agents of the United
States Marshals Service and is assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Jean M. Popowski
of the Florence office for prosecution.
Mr. Nettles stated that the charges in these Indictments are merely accusations and that
the defendants charged are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
