United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a St. Francis man charged with Involuntary Manslaughter was sentenced on October 16, 2009, by Chief United States District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Erick Eisenbraun, age 24, was sentenced to 33 months custody and 3 years of supervised release. Eisenbraun was indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter by a federal grand jury on May 12, 2009. He pled guilty to the indictment in July of 2009. The charge relates to the Defendant's grossly negligent operation of a motor vehicle which struck and killed a pedestrian in May of 2009. The Defendant consumed alcohol and drove a vehicle on Highway 18 in Todd County, South Dakota. While driving, his vehicle left the roadway and struck and killed William Stands, who was walking in the ditch. The Defendant’s blood alcohol content was tested to be .139, which is over the legal limit. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Law Enforcement Services, and Assistant United States Attorney Randolph J. Seiler prosecuted the case. Eisenbraun was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal. # # # |
