United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Goodell, Iowa, man charged with Interstate Transportation of a Stolen Motor Vehicle was sentenced on October 16, 2009, by Chief United States District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Joshua Stumme, age 22, was sentenced to three years of probation, a special assessment of $100 to the Victims Assistance Fund, and restitution of $2,623.65, to be paid jointly and severally with his co-defendants, to the victims. Stumme was indicted for two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Interstate Transportation of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Larceny, and Conspiracy to Commit Larceny by a federal grand jury on December 11, 2008. The charge relates to Stumme aiding and abetting others to unlawfully transport in interstate commerce a stolen Chevrolet Lumina from the State of South Dakota to the State of Iowa between April 15 and 18, 2008, knowing the same to be stolen. He pled guilty to Interstate Transportation of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Aiding and Abetting on May 29, 2009. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs at Crow Creek Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Jay Miller prosecuted the case. # # # |
