United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rosebud man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, and Aiding and Abetting. Eugene Clifford, age 25, was indicted by a federal grand jury on October 13, 2009. He appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark Moreno on October 26, 2009, and pled not guilty. The maximum penalty upon conviction is ten years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, or both, and a period of supervised release of three years on each count. Additionally, a $100 assessment to the Victims Assistance Fund and restitution may be ordered on each count. The charge is merely an accusation, and Clifford is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Rosebud Law Enforcement Services. Assistant US Attorney Kevin J. Krull is prosecuting the case. Clifford was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set. # # # |
