United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Todd Shaw, age 33, of Mission, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on October 26, 2009, and pled guilty to Distribution of a Controlled Substance. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years custody, a $1,000,000 fine, or both; at least 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 assessment to the Victims Assistance Fund. Restitution may also be ordered. Between August 1, 2003, and March 31, 2008, Shaw was found to have been knowingly and intentionally distributing and possessing with the intent to distribute a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine in the District of South Dakota and elsewhere. The investigation was conducted by the Northern Plains Safe Trails Drug Enforcement Task Force. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Tim Maher. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date will be set. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending sentencing. # # # |
