United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a McLaughlin, South Dakota, man charged with Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Abusive Sexual Contact was sentenced on October 26, 2009, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Kendall Iron Cloud, age 18, was sentenced to 210 months of custody, 5 years of supervised release, $2025.00 in restitution, and a $200 special assessment to the Victims Assistance Fund. Kendall Iron Cloud was originally charged as a juvenile in March 2009, and the case was then transferred to adult court. The charges relate to an April 2008 incident in which Iron Cloud assaulted and had sexual contact with a McLaughlin female. He pled guilty to Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Abusive Sexual Contact on June 23, 2009. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Law Enforcement Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case. Iron Cloud was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal. # # # |
