United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Eagle Butte, South Dakota, man charged with Arson was sentenced on November 2, 2009, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Caleb Blue Arm, age 25, was sentenced to 41 months in custody, 5 years of supervised release, $29,650.02 in restitution, and $100 special assessment to the Victim's Assistance Fund. Blue Arm was indicted for First Degree Burglary and Arson by a federal grand jury on March 18, 2009. The charges relate to a November 27, 2008, fire at the Prairie Apartment Complex in Eagle Butte, which Blue Arm admitted maliciously starting. Blue Arm pled guilty to Arson on August 3, 2009. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Detective Division. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case. Blue Arm was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal. # # # |
