Mitchell Man Sentenced on Cocaine Conspiracy

Acting US Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a Mitchell man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on October 5, 2009, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Dayton Nordstrom, age 20, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, a $500 fine, and a $100 Victims Assistance Fund assessment. Nordstrom was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 24, 2009. Between October 2005 and February 2009, Nordstrom conspired to distribute cocaine in Rapid City and elsewhere in South Dakota. On July 6, 2009, he pled guilty to the charge. This case was investigated by DEA, the Sioux Falls Police Department, and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant US Attorney Mark A. Vargo prosecuted the case. Nordstrom was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal. # # #
