Illegal Alien Charged with Illegal Reentry After Deportation

Acting U.S. Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a man has been charged for Illegal Reentry After Deportation. Leopoldo Saucedo-Banuelos was charged by complaint on October 6, 2009, for Illegal Reentry After Deportation. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on October 7, 2009, and pled not guilty to a complaint. The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Saucedo-Banuelos is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The investigation is being conducted by Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE). Assistant US Attorney Mara M. Kohn is prosecuting the case. Saucedo-Banuelos was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set. # # #
