Acting U.S. Attorney Dennis R. Holmes announced that a man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on October 14, 2009, by U.S. District Judge Richard H. Battey. Carl Thomas Holm, age 27, of Belle Fourche, was sentenced to 48 months incarceration, 5 years supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victims Assistance Fund. Holm was indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury on December 16, 2008. Holm pled guilty to the indictment on July 28, 2009, admitting to conspiring with others to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine in the Spearfish area during the summer of 2008 through November 2008. This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the South Dakota Department of Criminal Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri prosecuted the case. Holm was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. # # # |
