Black Hawk Man Sentenced for Illegally Possessing Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Black Hawk man charged with Possession of an Unregistered Firearm was sentenced on October 27, 2009, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Arley Roach, age 26, was sentenced to 27months imprisonment, 3 years supervised release and a $100 victims' assessment. Roach was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 24, 2008. On September 19, 2008, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Roach's home and found him to be in possession of a Remington shotgun that was not registered to him. On August 13, 2009, he pled guilty to the offense. This case was investigated by ATF, DEA and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant US Attorney Mark A. Vargo prosecuted the case. Roach was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal. # # #
