U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a man charged with Involuntary Manslaughter was sentenced on October 26, 2009, by Chief U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Justin Looks Twice, age 21, of Manderson, was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment, 2 years supervised release, and ordered to pay $100 to the Victims Assistance Fund. Looks Twice was indicted for Involuntary Manslaughter and Use of a Firearm During a Crime of Violence by a federal grand jury on December 16, 2008. Looks Twice picked up a revolver, pointed it at another person, and pulled the trigger, shooting the victim in the head. Looks Twice pled guilty to Manslaughter on July 24, 2009. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant U.S. Attorney Mara M. Kohn prosecuted the case. Looks Twice was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. # # # |
