Rapid City Man Sentenced to 37 months for Marijuana Conspiracy

Rapid City, SD

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City man charged with Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance was sentenced on November 2, 2009, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. Benjamin Osborne, age 26, was sentenced to 37 months imprisonment, 5 years supervised release, a $100 victims assessment, and a $500 fine. Osborne was originally indicted for Conspiracy and Possession With Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance by a federal grand jury on April 23, 2008. Between April 2004 and August 2007, Osborne conspired with others to distribute marihuana in and around Rapid City. On August 13, 2009, he pled guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance. This case was investigated by DEA and the Unified Narcotics Enforcement Team. Assistant US Attorney Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case. Osborne was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal. # # #
