Bullhead Man Sentenced for Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Bullhead man who pled guilty to Assault with a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on January 3, 2011, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Edgar Yellow Earrings, age 47, was sentenced to 97 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, and a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Yellow Earrings was indicted for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Assaulting a Federal Officer, and Resisting or Impeding a Federal Officer by a federal grand jury on July 13, 2010. The charges relate to the assault of a woman in November 2008. Yellow Earrings pled guilty to count 1 of the indictment that charged him with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon on September 21, 2010.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Standing Rock Agency. Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson prosecuted the case.

Yellow Earrings was immediately turned over to the custody of the United States Marshal to being serving his sentence.
