South Carolina Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Goose Creek, South Carolina, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on August 31, 2011, by US District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Kenneth A. Grant, age 44, was sentenced to pay child support restitution in the amount of $20,903.29, which was paid in full at sentencing.

Grant was indicted for failing to pay an amount greater than $10,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on September 8, 2010. Defendant was ordered by the Sixth Judicial Circuit, Mellette County, South Dakota, to pay a past due support obligation. This obligation had remained unpaid for a period longer than two years. Grant pled guilty to the charge and was sentenced on August 31, 2011.

This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorney Meghan N. Dilges prosecuted the case.
