Pine Ridge Man Sentenced for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender was sentenced on January 10, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Craig Moses Richard, a/k/a Craig Moses Cottier, a/k/a Craig Moses, age 26, was sentenced to 12 months and 1 day of imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment.

Richard was indicted by a federal grand jury on April 20, 2010. Richard traveled in interstate commerce and knowingly failed to update his registration as required by the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act under federal law. Richard pled guilty to the offense on September 9, 2010.

This case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal's Service. Assistant US Attorney Robert A. Mandel prosecuted the case. Richard was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
