Arizona Man Sentenced for Failure to Pay Legal Child Support

US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Prescott Valley, Arizona, man charged with Failure to Pay Legal Child Support was sentenced on April 1, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Shawn L. Williams, age 33, was sentenced to imprisonment for a total term of time served, supervised release of 90 days, a special assessment of $100 to the Victim Assistance fund, and child support restitution in the amount of $24,839.08.

Williams was indicted for failing to pay over $22,000 in past due child support by a federal grand jury on April 7, 2010. At the time of indictment, Shawn I. Williams had not made a child support payment since April 2003, and the total arrearage amount was $22,382.08. He pled guilty to the charge on December 29, 2010.

This case was investigated the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. Assistant US Attorneys Thomas J. Wright and Carolyn G. Olson prosecuted the case.
