Iowa Woman Guilty of Illegally Possessing Firearm

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Heather Stahlhoefer, age 25, of Des Moines, Iowa, appeared before US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken on June 3, 2011, and pled guilty to Count VI of an indictment that charged her with Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 10 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine.

In June 2010, at Rapid City, Stahlhoefer, a previously convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a Smith & Wesson .38 caliber revolver and ammunition. The investigation was conducted by the US Secret Service. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant US Attorney Eric Kelderman.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for August 26, 2011. The defendant was remanded to the custody of the US Marshal pending sentencing.
