Pine Ridge Man Sentenced for Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Pine Ridge man charged with Assault With a Dangerous Weapon was sentenced on June 6, 2011, by US District Judge Jeffrey L. Viken. Cole Brewer, age 19, was sentenced to 16 months of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, $100 restitution, and a $100 victim assessment.

Brewer was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 21, 2010. In June 2010, Brewer, after being awoken due to a domestic disturbance between other people, assaulted a person with his fists, shod feet, and a baseball bat, rendering the victim unconscious and causing serious injuries. He pled guilty on March 17, 2011.

This case was investigated by the BIA and OST-DPS. Assistant US Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.

Brewer was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
