Allen Man Indicted for Sexually Abusing a Minor

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Allen man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for engaging in sexual contact with a child under the age of 16.

Brandonlex Sitting Bear, age 20, was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 22, 2011, for Sexual Abuse of a Minor. He appeared before US Magistrate Judge John E. Simko on June 30, 2011, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 15 years' imprisonment and/or a $250,000 fine. The charge is merely an accusation, and Sitting Bear is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Assistant US Attorney Sarah B. Collins is prosecuting the case. Sitting Bear was released on bond pending trial. A trial date has not yet been set.
