Rapid City Man Sentenced for Unlawful Killing of Mountain Lion Near Mount Rushmore

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Rapid City man charged with Unlawful Taking of Wildlife (Lacey Act) was sentenced on July 29, 2011, by US Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy. Tyler Krebs, age 22, was sentenced to a $250 fine and a $25 victim assessment.

Krebs was charged by an Information on June 14, 2010. In January 2010, Krebs and another man shot and killed a mountain lion within Mount Rushmore National Memorial. He pled guilty on July 29, 2011.

This case was investigated by the National Forest Service. Assistant US Attorney Sarah B. Collins prosecuted the case.
