Pine Ridge Man Pleads Guilty to Stealing from Pine Ridge School

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Gaven Youngman, a/k/a Gaven Afraid of His Horses, age 30, of Pine Ridge, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica L. Duffy on October 4, 2011, and pled guilty to a charge of Larceny. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 1 year of imprisonment and/or a $100,000 fine.

Between August 2010, and April 2011, Youngman stole computers, computer equipment, and gift cards from the Pine Ridge School. The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman.

A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for December 13, 2011. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing.
