US Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Lake Andes man charged with escape was sentenced on December 20, 2011, by Chief US District Judge Karen E. Schreier. David McGhee, age 30, was sentenced to 15 months in custody to be served consecutively to the sentence he is presently serving.

McGhee was indicted for escape by a federal grand jury on August 9, 2011. In July of 2011, David McGhee was serving a sentence with the Bureau of Prisons for the offense of being a felon in possession of a firearm. On July 16, 2011, McGhee absconded from Glory House. Glory House reported the escape to the United States Marshal's Service, and McGhee was placed on escape status. Approximately eight hours after the escape, McGhee was captured by the Sioux Falls Police Department. He pled guilty to the indictment on October 5, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Sioux Falls Police Department and the United States Marshal's Service. Assistant US Attorney Thomas J. Wright prosecuted the case.

McGhee was immediately turned over to the custody of the US Marshal.
