Okreek Man Pleads Guilty to Assault

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Guy Fast Horse, age 21, of Okreek, South Dakota, appeared before United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on February 16, 2012, and pled guilty to Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding and Simple Assault. The maximum penalty upon conviction for each count is 6 months' imprisonment, a $5,000 fine, or both.

The charge stems from an incident that took place on or about June 9, 2010, when Fast Horse struck the victim in the face with a golf club.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers.

A sentencing date has not been set. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing.
