United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that an Okreek, South Dakota, man charged with Assault by Striking, Beating and Wounding and Simple Assault was sentenced on February 27, 2012, by United States Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno. Guy Fast Horse, age 21, was sentenced to one year probation for each count to run concurrently and a $20 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.

Fast Horse was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 13, 2011, and pled guilty to the charge on February 16, 2012.

The conviction stems from an incident that took place on June 9, 2010, when Fast Horse struck the victim in the face with a golf club.

The investigation was conducted by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers.
