U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ft. Thompson woman charged with two counts of Operating a Motor Vehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol with a Minor Present in the Motor Vehicle was sentenced on April 16, 2012, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Kristy His Law, age 22, was sentenced to time served, 2 years of probation, and $1,468.55 restitution.

His Law was indicted by a federal grand jury in September 2011. In January 2012, she pled guilty to two counts of the indictment.

The conviction stems from an incident in August 2011 when the defendant drove while intoxicated. His Law drove recklessly and crashed, injuring the passengers - two minors and an adult.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges. His Law was released to begin serving her period of probation.
