U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Lower Brule man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for one count of Aggravated Sexual Abuse and two counts of Abusive Sexual Contact.

Wade Keith Goodface, age 19, was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 8, 2012. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on May 11, 2012, and pled not guilty to the indictment. The maximum penalty upon conviction is life or any term of years imprisonment on the Aggravated Sexual Abuse charge and 10 years in custody on the Abusive Sexual Contact charges. All penalties may also include a $250,000 fine and a period of 5 years up to life of supervised release. The charges are merely accusations, and Goodface is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan N. Dilges is prosecuting the case. Goodface was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. A trial date has not yet been set.
